Where to begin!? Junella + Patrick threw one hell of a wedding! There was impromptu dancing with Hare Krishnas in Union Square Park, a wedding crasher walking up the aisle during the ceremony, a quest after the ceremony where guests had to figure out where to reception was based on clues they were given, a first dance which included fun masks, one of the most spectacular wedding venues I’ve had the pleasure of working at, Angel Orensanz, the incredible team at Erganic Design, led by Sojourner, and of course Junella, Patrick and their whole crew of fun family and friends making the whole day such a blast! Thank you so much for letting me document your unique wedding, and congratulations to you both!
I caught up with Anushka + Neal this past Monday in Brooklyn for their engagement session. DUMBO has become even more increasingly popular theses days, both with visitors and other photographers alike. There is a reason for that though, it’s a pretty damn cool area of Brooklyn! I strive to make these sessions be more about the couple than the location if possible, while peppering in a few nods to the scenery as well. I also like for the session to look like it was THEIR Brooklyn and they weren’t sharing it with the throngs of other people. I had a great time wandering around the streets with these two! Always in good spirits and goofing around with each other every chance they could. It was such a pleasure to document this sliver of time in their lives.
I met up with this dynamic duo the other day in Stroudsburg PA for their engagement session. I had never been there, and photographing somewhere you’ve never been is typically exciting and fresh. This session was no different. Although to be honest, Stroudsburg itself had little to do with the fun and excitement I experienced. Nope, it was Jessica and Tom who were the stars of the show! I had a wonderful time getting to know these two better and watch them thoroughly enjoy one another. I also learned a few things about toucans and poured concrete, thanks Tom! I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next year at Bear Brook Valley. Thanks for a great day out!
Shannon + James had one of the most amazing weddings I’ve ever had the privilege of photographing! I had to pinch myself throughout the day because I just couldn’t believe all the love and fun I was witnessing! From all of their genuine friends and family sharing love, support, and laughter, to the incredible venue, The Farm at Eagles Ridge, their funny dog Sophia getting in on the action, James’ awesome Vespa that he took Shannon for a ride on, as well as rode down to the ceremony on while the song Kashmir by Led Zeppelin was blasting, to the heartfelt ceremony performed by James’ cousin, the super chill Hookah Lounge, a sword and dagger cake cutting, and a toast by Captain Morgan that had me in stitches! This wedding had it all, Shannon and James’ personalities shone through and their love for each other was so intense and plain to see. I also had my dream team with me to help capture it all, Pam, who I call my right hand Pam, and the lovely and super talented Danette who totally crushed this wedding with me, thank you! I’ve included some of Danette’s handy work in this post as well. And if you want to see even more photos from this wedding click on over to the featured wedding here. A HUGE congratulations to Shannon and James, we were absolutely honored to be there on your day of days!
Here is the final installment on my look back at some of my favorite wedding photos of 2016, this being the Reception category. As I was putting this post together it dawned on me that I started Laffler Photography ten years ago! Holy smokes, a decade! It still fills me with great joy to be the one to capture these moments for my couples. All we have are our memories, and sometimes photographs help us to remember. Not to mention future generations may enjoy seeing just how “silly” their parents were long ago! I want to give the biggest THANK YOU I can to ALL of my couples, past, present and future who entrust me to be the one to document their day of days, it’s not something I take lightly! Enjoy…
