Sarah + David

And the first wedding of the 2012 wedding season goes to…..Sarah + David! And what a GREAT way to kick off 2012! Sarah + David were SO flippin’ easy to work with! They got hitched at the amazing Capitale in NYC which used to be an old school proper bank back in the day. What a gorgeous space for a wedding! Sarah and David had an amazing wedding surrounded by close friends and family. Thanks so much guys, congratulations!

American Photo Top 10!

I am SO completely honored to have been chosen by American Photo magazine as one of the top 10 Wedding Photographers in the world for 2012! I hope you don’t mind if I type that again… one of the top 10 Wedding Photographers in the world!!!! YOWZA! I truly want to thank all of my past/present/future clients for trusting me to just do my thing on your wedding day. You all have made this even possible, so THANK YOU! I’m not exactly when this issue hits the newsstands but keep an eye out for it in the near future.

I am FEARLESS!

I’m not a big fan of entering photo competitions, for reasons I won’t go into here, with the exception of one organization; Fearless Photographers! It is made up of, run by, and judged by like minded wedding photographers who are not satisfied with making the same old boring wedding photos! Here are a few words by founder, and fellow fearless photographer Huy Nguyen to give you a sense of what it’s all about:

FEARLESS PHOTOGRAPHERS is a unique directory of the world’s boldest photographers who are not afraid to push the limits of wedding photography to surprise you with extraordinary images from your wedding day. Fearless Awards are given to photographs that excel in redefining wedding photography or are just darn amazing! Less than one out of ten images – 10% – are selected by our curators. Our photographers submit many, many great images but we only want to show the very best work from this keenly talented group of photographers.

For more information on Fearless Photographers, please visit their home page here. And without further ado, here are the 24 Fearless Awards I have been so honored to have won thus far. They are in no particular order! Enjoy!

Tagging along in Spain

I was recently invited to Spain to give a 2 day workshop with some wonderful photographers. It was an amazing trip and an honor to be asked to come share my knowledge of photography with them. I will post more about my travels/workshop in another blog post. For now, I would like to share with you a wedding in which I was able to tag along with my host and new friend, Jorge Miguel Jaime Baez. It was such a cool experience  to just observe Jorge in action and being that I don’t know Spanish, it made me be a little more observant about non verbal communication between people. I had a wonderful time, thank you Jorge for the opportunity. Here are some images from the day. Note: we only covered the getting ready and ceremony.

You didn’t think I would photograph a wedding in Valencia Spain and NOT include some oranges did you!?

Workin’ with Huy!

This past November I had the privilege and honor of second shooting for Huy Nguyan, of Love Unscripted. When Huy asks if you can 2nd shoot for him, you pretty much just say where and when!? I had a great experience working with Huy, and it was a nice change of pace for me to actually 2nd shoot, since I haven’t done that in a few years. Here are a few images from the day. Thanks Huy!

{best of} 2011 Bride+Groom+Friends

I want to take this little chunk of bandwidth right now to sincerely thank ALL my couples, past, present, and future for totally trusting me to capture your day of days. You give me the ball, and I run with it! We are a fantastic team! Yes, you are an integral part of how the photographs turn out. I can not photograph in a vacuum, so thank you for ‘bringing it’! 2011 was an amazing year with SO many fun, interesting, unique, and madly in love couples. I am truly thankful. I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings, but if I were a betting man, I would say more of the same wonderfulness and then some!  Stay on this ride with me everybody!

Jessica + Rik

Oh man! This may sound strange, but I am in love with Jessica’s hair! SO flippin’ cool! Sorry Rik, your hair just didn’t do anything for me! Jessica and Rik got married on a cool autumn day in November at the Pleasantdale Chateau here in New Jersey. I had tons of fun hanging out with Jessica and Rik, and their friends and family. The day was both literally and figuratively chill! Plus I got to shoot one of my favorite wedding shots of 2011 (see first image). Jessica and Rik, thank you so much for trusting me with your day of days, and congratulations!
