I had photographed Kayla’s Bat Mitzvah the other week, and instead of doing a more traditional Temple photo session, the Derman’s decided to do a much more informal (real) session at their house. I LOVED it! We just hung out at their house for a few hours and let them be themselves. Of course I had to set up  a few shots but I think the overall result is SO much more THEM than any photographs taken of them all dressed up in a Temple. Guys, I seriously enjoyed hanging out with the whole clan, you guys are an AWESOME family!!!!

I had photographed Kayla’s sister, Alexa’s Bat Mitzvah almost two years ago. What really made me take a step back was when the family met me at the venue and how much Kayla reminded me of Alexa from two years ago. I had to do a double take! Alexa’s Bat Mitzvah was amazingly awesome and fun, so it was no surprise that Kayla’s was just as much so! It was also great to see little “wild man” Jackson, Kayla’s little brother, again as well. This kid is going to be a dynamo for sure!  Sadly though, this will be my last “mitzvah” that I will be photographing. I am focusing on only shooting weddings for now. It was certainly fun though, these guys REALLY know how to throw a party! So congratulations to you Kayla, it was my pleasure documenting your big day!
