Let it Snow!

We had a decent amount of snow come our way here in NJ the other day. Now, I don’t know exactly what happened to the kid in me who used to love playing in the snow, but sad to say he is gone. I am happy to report though that my daughter Zoe is quite “normal” when it comes to that kid/snow relationship. Perhaps her joy will rekindle my affinity for the white stuff, who knows! Anyway, I did take the opportunity to just wander around my back yard with my camera the day after the snow to see what I could find. I was pleasantly surprised! I’m a big fan of repetition, form, line, patterns and clean compositions in my work, and there was no shortage in my back yard! The snow only serves to accentuate many of these characteristics. So, I thought I would share what I saw with you all. This was a really good exercise in seeing shapes and patterns and organizing them into pleasing compositions.

I thought I would first start off with a little collage of some of the images I caught and then proceed to show the uncropped/larger photos as well.

ok, lemme see the bye bye 4 comments

Lee - Hi Todd, I love these the stark white against black just looks amazing.

Krystal Radlinski - Only you can make abstract snow photography look sexy.

Rachael Earl - A few remind me very much of Edward Weston-beautiful!

Todd - Wow, thanks Rachel, that’s so nice to hear, he was one of my favorite photographers when I first started this journey! :)
