Denise + Brian

Denise hired me to photograph her wedding after I did her friend’s Melissa and Frank’s wedding last year. While I was photographing some detail shots inside Denise’s house, the skies opened up and the rain came down in buckets! Denise took it in stride and was confident that her and Brian’s wedding would be beautiful wether it was outside or not. As it turned out, the rain did eventually stop and the outdoor ceremony went off without a hitch, well except for Denise and Brian, they did get hitched! The ceremony and reception were held at Ravello in East Hanover. Everyone seemed to have a blast on the dance floor, and we even were entertained by Brian’s uncle who did some singing, while his daughter dazzled the crowd with some amazing dancing! Enjoy your honeymoon in Italy guys. Congratulations!

Christina + Trevor

Christina and Trevor were so laid back and easy to photograph that it was my true pleasure to tag along on their big day. We stopped by Lambert Castle after the ceremony for some photos, then headed over to the Brownstone for the reception. Question for you, when was the last time you went to a wedding where a Rock-a-billy band entertained you? Probably never right? Well, except for those of you that attended Christina and Trevor’s wedding! They were called the Buzzards, and these guys were just awesome! Great wedding guys! Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon!

Ann Marie + Ben

Ok, this is going to be a BIG blog post! Two reasons; first, this was an AWESOME wedding, and secondly, Ben happens to be my cousin! My family and I flew across the Atlantic Ocean to Liverpool England to be at Ben and Ann Marie’s wedding. We stayed at my mother’s flat two weeks prior to the wedding (see previous two blog posts). It was great to see my relatives across the pond again, but it was also a little awkward working at the wedding too. They chose this really great venue called the Palm House in Sefton Park. Basically, it’s a very big and beautiful green house. What a magnificent site to have a wedding! Rather than type a bunch more stuff here, I will start posting photos and will probably have more commentary than usual…enjoy!
_

Ok, this shot requires some explaining. I had just finished photographing Ann Marie’s engagement ring and needed to use the loo (toilet). When I was washing my hands I noticed the word “Bensham” on the faucet. Well, Ben’s name kept jumping out at me, so I decided to photograph Ann Marie’s ring sitting on top of the faucet (after plugging the drain of course!) I knew I would later photoshop out the “ham” part of the word, leaving “Bens HOT”. Well, here is the end result. Oh, and for the record, Ben IS hot!

The Peak District

We headed out to the Peak District for a few days this past week. We usually go up to the Lake District but decided to try something new this time. We stayed around the village of Bakewell, where we visited Haddon Hall and the Chatsworth Estate. They film a lot of those oldy worldy movies and PBS specials at these places. We toured the houses and the gardens as well. This is truly a beautiful part of England. We stayed at two different B&B’s, and they were both extremely picturesque.
_

This was shot about 100 yards from the back door of the first B&B we stayed at. There were some dark brooding clouds around, and occasionally the sun would pop out for about a minute or two.

img_8162-edit.jpg

_

And this is Ben, one of the two dogs at the B&B. Zoe kept telling him to get off his dog house roof and get back in his suitcase, whatver that means!

When we were researching B&Bs to stay at, this one had advertised the room we stayed in as having a “Loo with a view” (Loo=toilet). Sure enough, when we got there, this was the view from the loo.

1940’s Weekend

It all started when we were searching online for a Thomas the Tank Engine appearance for my daughter Zoe, who is a HUGE fan! We didn’t have any luck I’m afraid, but did happen to stumble upon the town of Haworth’s 1940’s weekend which was located in West Yorkshire. The town totally looked the part. There were lots of people dressed up in authentic 1940’s garb, not to mention period vehicles, and the shops which even taped up their windows just like back in the day. It did rain most of the day, but the whole town and its participants showed great moxy in carrying on with a great day! We even got to ride on an authentic double decker bus from back in the day, as well as a great steam train too.

England

My wife Susan, daughter Zoe, and myself are visiting my mother in England at the moment. I will be photographing my cousin Ben’s wedding next Sunday too. Unfortunately, Zoe has been pretty sick since we got here. We actually spent most of Mother’s day at a Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. They ultimately diagnosed her with tonsillitis . She’s had some high fevers, sore throat, lots of coughing among other things. She seems to be doing better now. Needless to say, we haven’t been out on many adventures I’m afraid. Just thought I would update everyone and post a few snaps I’ve managed to take since we’ve been here.
_

I took a pretty similar shot as this almost exactly 1 year ago. My mom’s friend Chris is on the right and my wife Susan with Zoe asleep in the hiker on her back. I didn’t stage it, it just sort of happened again. Although this time, I had my zoom lens on, so it does have a different feel to it.

Stephen Friedman

What a unique and enjoyable Bar Mitzvah I photographed today. It was Stephen’s big 13th birthday, and his parents sure pulled out all the stops! Do you think it’s just a coincidence that I selected 13 photos to blog…hmm. Stephen is a huge NY Rangers fan, and a hockey player himself. So what better place to throw his Bar Mitzvah bash than the Bridgewater Sports Arena which featured an ice skating rink! It was very cool…literally! Stephen’s cake even looked like the Stanley Cup. He also had an ice skating race with his younger brother Alec, as all the guests looked on from the bleachers. Sorry Alec, you were certainly close, but your big brother came out victorious. This was an awesome Bar Mitzvah for sure Stephen. Congratulations!
