Monthly Archives: April 2010

I dug back 5 years for this blog post. These are a collection of photographs I took while visiting Acadia Maine back in 2005. It was an extremely wet and rainy trip, but I managed to snap a few shots here and there that I thought were worth sharing. It’s a pretty diverse collection and I’m not sure it really screams “ACADIA” but hey, you shoot what’s available at the time and make the most of it. Enjoy!

  • Kay - Awesomeness! What camera did you use back then?

  • Todd Laffler - Thanks Kay! I was using a Canon 1D Mark II at that time.

  • Greg - this is a crazy set. Love the style and editing of these and pretty much all your photos.

  • moo - photo one is amazing. i love the mood you created with your editing techniques.

In case you guys haven’t noticed, I’ve had a few weeks off recently. It’s given me time to work a little on my business, spend more time with my family, and take it a little easier. So, with no new shoots to show, I have been digging up the past so to speak. For this post I have dug back several years ago when I used to go on photography “walk abouts”. I would just start off somewhere and then begin wandering around to see what I could find that interested me. I have collected a few photos to show you from a few of those wanderings. I will be posting new work towards the end of April, and it will be pretty steady through the end of November, so stay tuned for all of that!

  • jeff tisman - yo t,

awesome!!! when’s the nature seminar!! πŸ™‚
    great shots!!

  • Alice - Uhhh you need to go on more walkabouts, because these are spectacular! Each one is so very lovely, and together they sing with harmony!!

  • Kay - Yes!!!!!!!!! These are awesome! Are some of them taken in Watchung? The sticks in the water shot makes me smile

  • rachel d - Wow. That lone tree reflection. Like glass. Awesome and beautiful walkabout photos!

  • Lee - Oh my these are amazing, they don’t look real.

  • Todd Laffler - Thanks everyone! No nature seminar Jeff, but if you want to go for a “walk about” one day, I’m game! πŸ™‚
Thanks so much Alice, much appreciated!
Thanks Kay, I think 2 of these were taken in Watchung.
    Thanks Rachel and Lee too!

  • Krystal Radlinski - I think I’d like to wallpaper an entire wall of my house with the third photo!

  • Rachael Earl - Wish I had your patience to photograph nature-these are beautiful! Oh, and if I photographed your family, please wear matching white polos (preferably tucked in) and blue jeans. Hiking boots a plus. πŸ˜‰

  • Todd Laffler - Krystal, I’m getting a strong 70’s vibe when I think of that photo on a whole wall. πŸ™‚ But judging on the look of your new blog, I think you guys are digging on the retro look. πŸ™‚
Thanks Rachael. I never thought of it as patience, I LOVED just getting “lost” and before I knew it I was late for dinner! πŸ™‚ I like the matching white polos, but would it be ok if we all wore matching khakis instead of jeans? πŸ˜‰ lol

  • moo - i agree with krystal, i would totally wallpaper my walls with photo three. i also really love photo four, but all of these are really lovely. yay “walk abouts”!

  • Ryan Young - @Krystal & @Todd…we totally had a forest mural on a finished basement wall when I was a kid, and yes it was the 70s.

These images are spectacular. Your hero-status just went up even higher…

  • maureen cassidy - you always amaze me really!
I LOVE YOUR work, every post.
    you rock!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed the last “rewind” wedding I blogged so I decided to do another one. Melissa and Carl’s wedding was really awesome to photograph and I think I originally did a really big blog post about it last summer. So, I sifted through their photos again to see if there were any hidden gems, and I did find a few, so thought I would share them with you guys.

  • Melissa - Yay! What a wonderful thing to see on my google reader today. : )
thanks for the re-blog/ rewind, Todd. we love it and still look at our photos all of the time!! great memories captured perfectly!

  • Brandi - I love all of these, but in particular I love that shoe shot. Win!

  • Kay - LOVE the shoes! Where was this wedding located? There’s such cool backgrounds. Great job!

This behind the scenes installment comes from Alex and Kristy’s wedding. While I was photographing Kristy and Alex, every so often Alex would flash his “hand gun” or point his finger at me. Of course I’m going to photograph that right!? Well, Kay English, who was assisting me on this wedding, grabbed this shot of the three of us. Check out my cool stance!

And here is what I saw through my lens…

  • IRIS CHEUNG - Too funny!

  • Tony - See Todd . . . He even knows it . . . YOU are the man . . .

  • Kay - YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol! That groom was awesome! So funny!

  • David JosuΓ© - jajaja, this is amazing dude

  • Kristen Driscoll - Aw yeah! Love it! πŸ™‚

My wife Susan had this great idea the other day! Why not make up some “play date” cards for the kids to hand out to new friends? I thought it was brilliant and was excited to design something for each of my kids. So, I went over to and purchased some clip art. I had to make a few modifications here and there to the artwork, and then I was ready to design their “calling cards”. These will be printed with slightly rounded corners and I’m thinking of having them UV coated as well. So, the image on the left side is the front, and the image on thr right side is the back. I thought they came out cute so decided to share them.

  • Tanya - Very cute!! And I like the new Blog set up!

  • Alice - Holy cow those are cute! Thanks so much for sharing.

  • Nadya - nice idea!!! I also like the new blog layout

  • Sydney - Oh my heck! Those are the cutest! I would like to purchase some! How do I?!

  • Robin - This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!
