Melissa + Michael

Have you ever been to a wedding where they had dueling pianos at the reception? I haven’t either, well, until tonight that is. This was a really fun wedding to photograph. And as soon as we wrapped up our photo session after the ceremony, the skies opened up! We didn’t get a drop on us! Both the ceremony and the reception were held at the BAsking Ridge Country Club. Congratulations Melissa and Michael, enjoy your honeymoon!

Tyler here was the ring bearer today. Despite needing a little help going down the aisle, and not having any shoes on, the rings did arrive safely!

Gleny + Mario

I met up with Gleny and Mario at Seaside Heights today for a fun engagement session. Both Mario and Gleny were great sports by getting a little wet for a great shot I had in mind (a few photos down). We hung out along the boardwalk and the beach in the late afternoon, took a break for dinner, then met back up for a few fun shots at dusk. Thanks guys, I am really looking forward to photographing your wedding in August!

Thomas Ward - I LOVE the last shot!

Rosie Parsons - Wow, the surf shot and the last fairground one are out of this world! Kudos!

jaylifoto - to shoot the “Giggle Bunny” you must got wet too!

Did you bring a softbox for the lighting? Can’t figure out how you light it :)

Todd - Hey Jay. Nope, I didn’t get wet for the Giggle Bunny shot, just a little wet on the next photo though, but not bad at all. Just use a longer lens. :)

No softbox either, it’s just available light.

Todd

The Browns

Today I had the pleasure of meeting the Brown family. What a fun family to photograph! The kids climbed trees, wrestled with dad, jumped on the bed, typical kid stuff! I had a blast working with you guys, thank you so much.

Sherry + Brian

I have been looking forward to photographing Sherry and Brian’s wedding ever since they booked me almost a year and a half ago! I was not let down. The ceremony and the reception were held at the beautiful Riverside Church in New York City. What a GORGEOUS backdrop for an amazing wedding. Brian and Sherry were very low key and a delight to work with. Thanks for letting me be a part of your big day guys, congratulations!

This is Jay, Brian’s nephew, who was the ring bearer. Jay was such a trooper the entire day and into the night!

Martine Van Driessch - I’m Sherry’s Belgian colleague and have known her for a short period yet long enough to get a pretty good idea of her personality.
I’m impressed to see that the graciousness of the pictures, the switch between black & white photography, the arty eye with which the pictures were taken, all of the above are so representative to Sherry herself as a person. Where having such thankful models must have been inspiring as well. As we say in Dutch “om door ‘n ringetje te halen” (meaning excellent job!)

groetjes,
Martine

Scott Anderson - …stunning…

What beautiful pictures.

Patricia Jones Sutto - Never befroe have I seen pictures display such joy and spontaniety. For me, it was almost like being there.

Diana + Blake

Wow, Diana has a LOT of brothers! Nine to be exact, plus two sisters. I could tell that this was a very close knit family and it was a joy to witness the love and laughter between them all. This was such a fun wedding to photograph, everyone was so nice and helpful throughout the day. Diana and Blake had both the ceremony and the reception at the Madison Hotel, in the conservatory. It’s such a wonderful space, everything was just beautiful. Congratulations Diana and Blake, have fun on your honeymoon!

Just so everyone knows, that blurriness around the outside of this photo isn’t a cheesy effect. If you look at the previous photo you’ll see those vertical support columns. I am actually shooting between them from the front, so the white bars went WAY out of focus. Sometimes you just have to get what you can from wherever you can!

Raegan + Ben

First let me apologize to Raegan for calling her Ann Marie once or twice during the bridal party photos! See, I just photographed my cousin Ben and Ann Marie’s wedding a week earlier and Raegan’s husband’s name is Ben, so you can see how that might happen. Now that that’s out of the way…what a fantastic wedding to photograph! We had a beautiful day, an even more beautiful bride, and one of my favorite venues to work at, the Liberty House, at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. The ceremony was held there as well. Congratulations Raegan and Ben!

andystenz - Amazing shots! (as usual…) I really like the ones of them with the cityscape. A few look surreal, almost green screen – great lighting on those!

jaylifoto - Great work! Very talented and creative. I was directed to your site by a studio wants me to “match” your style :)

Question – what kind of lighting setup did you use for the shot from balcony of the Liberty House(img_2827)? If it was available light, how did you correct/get that skin tone without affecting the background?

I am very happy to have found your work, and very inspirational.

Todd - Thanks Jay! Well, you’ll have to keep checking back here because my style is still evolving! :)

The lighting for the balcony shot was a combination of sun and off camera flash. I lit the city with off camera flash, and the couple with the sun! :) Just kidding of course, it was the other way around, but you knew that already!

Good luck to you.

Todd

jaylifoto - Hi Todd, thanks for getting back to me. I sure will keep coming back. Good work like yours keeps me smiling :) I love the colors, the energy, and fun you are having …

OK. I will have a wedding at the Liberty House in late October. By the time we get there it will be 6 or 6:30pm. Any suggestion on what to shoot? The bride wants an industrial look, but I double we will be able to jump over the fence to get inside the train station.

Todd - Hey Jay. Thanks for the compliments, and glad to see you’re checking back.

hmm, the bride wants an industrial look? Take her right across from the Liberty House, they are doing construction there, it’s pretty darn industrial! :)

The train station would be the best bet, but I think it will be closed at that time. You can still use the tracks and trains right outside the station. Those you will have access to.

Good luck.

Todd
